SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in water purification. Reeds are produced on the basis of cane Southern stalk reeds are ground to produce a fibrous mass containing fibre length of 50−60 mm and width of 1−3 mm. Then the pulp is treated with a liquid agent containing a water-soluble antiseptic and a water repellent. Treatment is carried out in two stages, on the first of which the fibrous mass is immersed into a liquid agent, held for 10−15 minutes at 30−50 °C, extracting the impregnated mass and drying it at 15−35 °C for 1−2 hours. At the second stage, the dried material obtained at the first stage is again immersed into liquid medium for 10−15 minutes, the re-impregnated material is removed and dried at 15−35 °C for 3−4 hours.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a sorption material having high efficiency of purifying water from oil products and suspended particles and resistant to fungal lesions.
