FIELD: adhesive materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in making labels, notebooks, tapes, labels, patches, as well as decorative and protective coatings. Water-based adhesive composition contains an interpolymer dispersed in an aqueous medium. Interpolymer contains an unsaturated monomer selected from butyl acrylate, ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, octyl acrylate, isooctyl acrylate, decyl acrylate, isodecyl acrylate, lauryl acrylate, cyclohexyl acrylate and combinations thereof, and 0.01–5 wt % of a compound selected from tung oil and/or tung acid. To obtain an adhesive composition, said unsaturated monomer and at least one surfactant is first dispersed in an aqueous medium. At least one initiator is introduced into the obtained emulsified mixture for polymerisation of said unsaturated monomer. During polymerisation of said unsaturated monomer, tung oil and/or tung acid are introduced.

EFFECT: adhesive composition is characterized by improved resistance to water turbidity, adhesion and cohesion.
