FIELD: automotive industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automotive industry and can be used to improve engine reliability by diagnosing cooling fluid circulation in cooling system of internal combustion engine. Liquid level indicator in the expansion tank contains a capacitor sensor, a differential amplifier, an alternating signal generator, an indicator, additionally equipped with a signal former, and the sensor is made of two capacitors consisting of plane-parallel conductive plates rigidly connected to the cover of the expansion tank. One condenser is located at closed cover of tank in position of maximum allowable level of liquid, and second - in position of minimum allowable level of liquid in expansion tank and inclined relative to vertical axis of tank. Electric outputs of capacitor plates are brought out through the cover of the tank, connected to the alternating signal generator and to the inputs of the signal former, the outputs of which are connected to inputs of the differential amplifier, the output of which is connected to the indicator.

EFFECT: higher reliability of sensor operation and improved conditions of maintenance of capacitor signal sensor.
