SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication. Method includes sending to the responding communication unit (120) a request for the beginning of a positional determination procedure and information of a first plurality of frequency bands in which the initiating communication unit (110) is able to communicate. Method further comprises receiving, from an associating communication unit (120), second information associated with a second plurality of frequency bands in which the responsive communication unit (120) is able to communicate, and initiating the beginning of the positional determination procedure based on the received second information, due to which the position determination procedure is carried out in at least one of the third plurality of frequency bands, which is present both in the first plurality of frequency bands, and in the second plurality of frequency bands.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to provide accuracy of determining positioning in a Wi-Fi communication network.
