SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication systems. Reducing the length of sector probing frames, transmission time of each sector probing frame can be reduced. Wireless communication device comprises a processing system for generating frames for transmission during a sector probing procedure, each frame includes one or more address fields determined based on at least one of the address of the transmitter of the device or the address of the receiver of the intended recipient of the generated frames and having fewer bits than the combined address of the transmitter and the address of the receiver. Processing system is configured to determine one or more address fields based on a hash function applied to a transmitter address and a receiver address, and/or based at least in part on one or more scramble seed numbers to be used to scramble frames before transmission. Interface of the device is configured to output frames for transmission during the probing procedure of the sector.
EFFECT: reduced time during sector probing procedures.
