SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device and a method for melting briquetted amorphous substance. Said device for melting a briquetted amorphous substance contains: a container 1 for collecting melt 2, having an opening 3 on top for loading briquettes 4 to be melted; thermal knives 5 installed under the opening 2 parallel to one another with alternating inclination of the cutting edges 6; heaters 7, each of which is located inside the corresponding thermal knife 5; a pipeline 8 with nozzles 9, located below the thermal knives 5 and covering the projection of the briquette 4 onto a horizontal plane, the nozzles 9 directed towards the inside of the area formed by the pipeline 8; heater 10 for additional heating of the melt 2; pump 12 for supplying the additionally heated melt into the pipeline 8. In the method: the briquette 4 to be melted is placed over the thermal knives 5 installed parallel to one another with an alternating inclination of the cutting edges 6; thermal knives 5 are heated to the first predetermined temperature; additionally at least a portion of the molten amorphous substance should be heated to a second predetermined temperature higher than the first predetermined temperature; additionally heated melt 2 is fed into pipeline 8 with nozzles 9 directed to the part of the melted briquette 4 coming out from under the thermal knife 5.
EFFECT: increase in the productivity of melting briquetted amorphous substances.
