FIELD: detection of subsurface metal and metal-containing objects.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used, in particular, for routing underground utilities in the form of electric cables and pipelines, as a metal detector in checkpoints, for detection of subsurface metal objects, etc. Radiating frame antenna, powered by a harmonic signal, generates a primary electromagnetic field, which are induced in the subsurface object of eddy currents, creating secondary electromagnetic field. By means of receiving antenna there caught is secondary electromagnetic field, which induces therein EMF of induction, and converting said EMF by the main measurement channel into in-phase and quadrature electrical signals. Simultaneously reaction of impedance of radiating frame antenna is registered and converted by means of additional measuring channel, caused by electromagnetic properties of subsurface metal object, into electric signal of additional measuring channel, which together with electric signals of main measuring channel is subjected to algorithmic processing procedure to determine specific electrical conductivity, magnetic permeability and depth of metal object.

EFFECT: disclosed is a hybrid method of detecting subsurface metal objects.
