SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering, in particular to a method of measuring range under water at short distances. Result is achieved due to that disclosed is a method for measuring range under water, characterized by the fact that transmission to the input of the transmitting frame magnetic antenna of the reference signal is carried out by means of modulation with the information low-frequency signal of the high-frequency transmitter signal, wherein the information low-frequency signal of the audio range is transmitted through the acoustic communication channel, the distance between the transmitting and receiving acoustic transducers is determined from the phase difference of the reference and received information signals.

EFFECT: reduction of dimensions and weight of frame magnetic antennas without reduction of efficiency of their use, as well as increase of communication line power.
