FIELD: machine construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine construction. The machine for machining workpieces has the first column (1) and the second column (2) which face each other along the first horizontal axis (Z), a guide system (3) providing directed movement (along the Z1, Z2 axes) at least of one of the columns parallel to the first horizontal axis. The invention also has one or two tool carriers (11, 12; 11A, 12A). Each tool carrier is mounted on the corresponding column (1, 2) for adjustable movement (along the X; Y axes) perpendicular to the first horizontal axis (Z). The invention has a spindle (13, 23) on each column. At least one of the spindles is made with the possibility of adjustable movement (along the Z3, Z4 axes) parallel to the first horizontal axis (Z). The spindles are made with possibility of holding the workpiece together and providing controlled rotation (C1, C2) of the workpiece around its axis parallel to the first horizontal axis (Z). The invention also relates to a processing method and a method for adapting a machine tool layout.
EFFECT: invention allows improving reliability of the machine and reducing its dimensions.
