FIELD: electrochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electrochemical metallization of diamond particles in an ionic melt and can be used in metal-ceramic tools. When carrying out the method, a vacuum furnace crucible is loaded with an electrolyte consisting of halides of alkali and alkaline earth metals and a salt of a carbide-forming metal in the form of a halide or oxyhalide in an amount of at least 2 wt. % of the original composition of the electrolyte. The mixture is melted, a mixture of diamond particles and a carbide-forming metal is introduced into the formed ionic melt, heated to operating temperatures of 500-900 ° C in an argon atmosphere and kept under constant stirring until the required thickness of the coating layer is obtained. Then the solidified electrolyte is cooled and removed from the crucible, it is crushed to obtain metallized diamond particles and particles of the said metal, which are washed with water from the electrolyte, dried, and the metallized diamond particles are screened from the metal particles.
EFFECT: formation of diamond particles with a coating that has increased adhesion to diamond due to the forces of adhesion and cohesion.
