FIELD: electrochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrochemistry, namely, to a method for modifying Pt/C electrocatalysts used for low-temperature hydrogen-air fuel cells (VVE). In particular, the invention relates to a method for producing a modified catalyst for the cathode and anode of a fuel cell. The method for manufacturing an electrocatalyst (Pt/C+SiO2) involves mixing a carbon carrier, platinum-and silicon-containing components with the deposition of silicon dioxide on a carbon carrier, for example, carbon black, adding an aqueous solution of a reducing agent, for example, formic acid, reducing platinum to obtain nanoscale platinum particles directly on a composite C+SiO2 carrier by mixing and heating the resulting reaction mixture, separating the catalyst by filtration, washing and drying.
EFFECT: technical result is the creation of a stable electrocatalyst, the use of which in hydrogen-air fuel cells allows tobtaining high specific power characteristics when it operates under conditions of dry gas supplied to the electrodes.
