SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment, namely to a medical knife for making an incision during ophthalmic operations. A medical knife for making an incision during ophthalmic operations has an edge formed along the periphery of the cutting part. The planar shape of the cutting portion is formed as a rhomboid shape formed by the front end portion having the pointed end formed at the front end portion of the cutting portion, the widest portion with the largest width, and the side surface portion formed between the front end portion and the widest portion. A front chamfer forming an edge on the front side and a back chamfer forming an edge on the rear side are separately formed to provide, as a boundary, a virtual surface containing an edge formed around the periphery of the cutting portion. The ratio of the angle between the virtual surface and the back chamfer to the angle between the virtual surface and the front chamfer on the front end portion is greater than the ratio of the angle between the virtual surface and the back chamfer to the angle between the virtual surface and the front chamfer on the side surface portion.

EFFECT: use of the invention makes it possible to ensure the execution of a cut with increased ability to self-closing.
