FIELD: wastewater treatment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of treatment of outflow water obtained during the production of furfural, which is carried out by exposing outflow water containing at least one organic solvent selected from isophorone and methyl-isobutyl ketone, furfural and water, to azeotrope distillation to obtain a distillate stream and a treated outflow. The invention also relates to a method for the production of furfural using methyl-isobutyl-ketone and isophorone as solvents for furfural, in which methyl-isobutyl-ketone, isophorone and furfural are removed from outflow water at one stage of azeotrope distillation.

EFFECT: technical result is the development of a new method of treatment of outflow water obtained during the production of furfural, with the production of a distillate flow and a treated outflow having lower BOD and COD values, allowing obtaining furfural with a high yield.
