FIELD: packaging materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a biodegradable food packaging unit made of formed fibrous material and to method of manufacture of such biodegradable food packaging unit. Packaging contains a compartment accommodating or carrying a food product, wherein the formed fibrous material comprises a biodegradable aliphatic polyester in the range of 0.5 to 20 wt.%, and the food packaging unit is a food packaging unit suitable for composting.
EFFECT: invention allows producing a material suitable for recycling, reducing the total weight of a packaging unit to 20% without loss of strength characteristics.
