FIELD: aviation.

SUBSTANCE: strut assembly for the aircraft landing gear structure is designed to make a transition between the released state configuration corresponding to the aircraft being on the ground and the retracted state configuration, in which the strut assembly is shortened along its longitudinal axis relative to the released state configuration, for stowage during flight. The strut assembly includes an upper partition element supported by an upper tubular housing, and a lower tubular housing made with a capabilty of advancing movement in the longitudinal direction relative to the upper tubular housing. To convert the strut assembly to the retracted state configuration, the advancing movement of the upper partition element relative to the upper tubular housing mechanically causes the advancing movement of the lower tubular housing to take a retracted position so that the total length of the strut assembly is reduced. The strut assembly may represent a hydraulic shock absorber assembly. The landing gear structure contains an undercart assembly. The aircraft contains a landing gear structure. The method of retracting the strut assembly includes the process of stowing the aircraft landing gear inside the aircraft.
