SUBSTANCE: invention relates in particular to a method for increasing the efficiency of the rectification separation of zirconium and hafnium tetrachlorides. The method of increasing the efficiency of the rectification separation of zirconium and hafnium tetrachlorides includes the operations of rectification of their mixture in a solvent - melt of potassium chloraluminate, evaporation of the bottom residue with return of the generating steam to the rectification operation, distillation with an inert gas from the solvent and subsequent condensation of production zirconium tetrachloride, return of the solvent melt to the dissolution operation upper product of rectification, removal and condensation of hafnium product. Before starting the rectification operation, inert gas is supplied to the evaporation operation of the bottoms to create a pressure equal to or less than the hydrostatic pressure of the solvent in the rectification operation, the melt flow is throttled with simultaneous control and maintenance of a stable level of the melt in the device for transferring it from evaporation to distillation.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the efficiency of separation of zirconium and hafnium tetrachlorides and, as a consequence, obtaining a high quality product.
