SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication and can be used in application of a discontinuous transmission mechanism (DRX). The communication method includes determining the type of the DRX indication signal by the terminal device according to the DRX configuration information, wherein the DRX indication signal is configured to indicate that the terminal device is activated within the duration of the DRX cycle activation. The terminal device detects the DRX indication signal sent from the network device according to the type of DRX indication signal and is activated within the duration of the DRX cycle activation in response to the DRX indication signal, wherein at least one of sequence types corresponding to different types of DRX indication signals, sequence numbers corresponding to different types of DRX indication signals and sequence lengths corresponding to different types of DRX indication signals are different, and different types of DRX indication signals provide different synchronization capabilities.
