SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to wireless communication and namely to discontinuous reception technologies. Disclosed is a method of intermittent reception. The method includes the following stages. The first terminal device determines a discontinuous reception target cycle (DRX) used to detect the DRX indication signal by the first terminal device. Next, the first terminal device detects the DRX indication signal sent by the network device in or before the target DRX cycle. The DRX indication signal is used to indicate that the first terminal device starts to work or is in sleep mode for an active period per M of DRX cycles after the moment the DRX indication signal is detected. M of DRX cycles represents the DRX indication cycle of the first terminal device, and M is a positive integer.

EFFECT: invention reduces the power consumption of the terminal device.
