FIELD: processing a timer by a terminal device.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for processing a timer by a terminal device. The method includes receiving a first message sent by a network device, in which the first message is used to indicate a downlink assignment or grant an uplink grant; and in response to receiving the first message scrambled using the first scrambling identifier, starting or restarting the timer, in which the timer is a timer used by the terminal to switch from the active downlink BWP to the default downlink BWP in which the active downlink BWP. The terminal device's link is not the default downlink BWP.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing the energy consumption of the terminal device.
