SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and namely to a method of breeding brachytic corn plants. According to the method, one should carry out a marker analysis for detecting a corn plant in a population of corn plants that contains a brachytic allele at one or more polymorphic loci. Also disclosed is a method of creating a population of corn plants containing at least one brachytic allele. The invention also relates to a method for breeding a corn plant and a method for selecting a corn seed. According to the method, a corn plant and a corn seed should contain a brachytic allele.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to efficiently obtain a brachytic corn plant.
