FIELD: beverage industry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to tea and coffee industry. The method for removing caffeine from the solution includes the following steps. The solution containing caffeine is contacted with a caffeine-absorbing material containing a cross-linked polymer and a caffeine adsorbent bound to the cross-linked polymer. The crosslinked polymer contains an alginate and a crosslinker, while the crosslinker is a polyvalent ion, and the crosslinked polymer is a crosslinked hydrogel. The contact of the solution takes place over a period of time and under conditions sufficient for the adsorption of caffeine, with caffeine removal from the solution. Also proposed are a caffeine-absorbing material, a caffeine-absorbing system, and a decaffeination system.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides an effective and fast method for removing caffeine from solutions, which takes from 1 to 60 minutes.
