FIELD: rock fracture diagnostics.

SUBSTANCE: discrete element method is presented for modeling the development of a fracture in the rock surrounding a drift, which includes: taking rock columns from a coal seam in a deposit and recording RQD values, observing drift deformation and performing statistical analysis of the characteristics of the propagation of faults in the coal seam; testing the mechanical parameters of coal samples indoors and calculating the strength of the rock mass in accordance with the RQD values; creating a numerical model by using the UDEC-Trigon module to adjust parameters to match the strength of the rock mass and adjust the model parameters; and creating a design scale numerical model to adjust parameters to match the deformation characteristics of the field, and ultimately simulate fracture development in the rock surrounding the drift.

EFFECT: present invention provides accurate and basic mechanical parameters for numerical simulation of drift deformation based on discrete elements, which guarantees realistic and reliable simulation results.
