SUBSTANCE: agricultural harvester (10) contains a first measuring device for reading the field characteristics in front of the header (18) in a non-contact manner, a second measuring device for issuing a signal suitable for outputting the value of the adjustable operating parameter of the header (18), an actuator (58, 68, 98, 102, 70) for setting the operating parameter and a control unit (46) for determining a control signal for the actuator (58, 68, 98, 102, 70) based on the signal from the first measuring device and the signal from the second measuring device. The second measuring device is designed to determine the position of the test point, which indicates the operating parameter, in a non-contact manner. The first measuring device and the second measuring device are relatively stationary and contain a shared sensor.
EFFECT: invention provides simplified control of the harvesting machine’s operating parameters.
