SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device for reducing the azimuthal torque acting on the thrust screw-rudder column or azimuth thruster (1). The device for reducing the azimuthal torque contains a rotary pod body (4) with a vertical axis (3A) of rotation, a thrust propeller (7) and two downward-directed stabilizers (6). The stabilizers extend substantially radially outward from the pod body (4). The stabilizers (6) are positioned so that their central planes (65) form an acute angle (β) between the two stabilizer keels (6), and the point of intersection of the center lines (65) of the stabilizers (6) is located above the horizontal central plane of the pod body (4).

EFFECT: increased efficiency and reliability of transmission.
