FIELD: ships; floating crafts.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ship building, particularly, to ship rudder propeller complexes. Azimuth thruster comprises rigidly interconnected vertical strut of tubular structure and nacelle, which can turn about vertical axis, inside which screw propeller drive elements are located, and mechanism for rotation of vertical strut and nacelle. Rotation mechanism is based on conical reduction gear and is a conical wheel on the upper end of the vertical strut, engaging with driving opposite conical stem-pinions. Each of the driving stem-pinions is put on a pair of bearings, one of which is located outside the toothed rim of the conical wheel, and the other one is located inside.
EFFECT: elimination of cantilever loads on stem-pinions of steering mechanism and increase of power of steering mechanism without increase of dimensions, as well as simplification of rudder propeller assembly and possibility of repair afloat.
