PROPELLER AND THRUST UNIT Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC B63H21/36

Abstract RU 2731811 C1

FIELD: vessels and other watercrafts.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to shipbuilding, particularly, to propulsion, propeller-and-thrust systems intended for long-term operation under ice load conditions. Propeller-and-thrust unit comprises a vertical post and a nacelle, which are rigidly connected to each other. Vertical post passes upwards into ship hull through opening in bottom. By means of upper and lower bearings it is installed inside tubular support structure. Tubular support structure is rigidly connected to vessel hull and is made long to nacelle. Lower bearing is located on the lower end of the vertical post. At that whole vertical post is closed by tubular supporting structure. To strengthen tubular supporting structure, it is advisable to make in form of divergent cone.

EFFECT: reduction of cantilever load on lower bearings and increase of their load capacity without increase in their sizes.
