FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a highly selective method for the production of 1,1,3-trichloropropene, including bringing 1,1,1,3-tetrachloropropane into contact with a catalyst in the dehydrochlorination zone to produce a liquid reaction mixture containing 1,1,1,3-tetrachloropropane and 1,1,3-trichloropropene, with the 1,1,1,3-tetrachloropropane starting material containing less than 2,000 ppm chlorinated alkane impurities or chlorinated alkene impurities, and separating 1,1,3-trichloropropene from the reaction mixture, and the concentration of 1,1,3-trichloropropene in the reaction mixture located in the dehydrochlorination zone, is controlled so that the molar ratio of 1,1,3-trichloropropene to 1,1,1,3-tetrachloropropane is from 5:95 to 30:70.
EFFECT: due to the application of this method, the yield of the product is increased.
