FIELD: water treatment.
SUBSTANCE: proposed is a method of treatment of industrial waste water from heavy metals comprising introduction of a sorption material based on iron oxides into the waste water with mechanical stirring and separation of the solid substance from the purified solution using magnetic means, wherein a ferrite suspension obtained by precipitation of iron (II) salts and iron (III) salts from water solutions in the presence of alkali containing a total amount of 50 to 70 g/l of iron is used as a sorption material, introduced into the waste water at the rate of 1 weight part of the suspension per 1.5 to 2.5 weight parts of pollutant heavy metals contained in the waste water, wherein a ferrite suspension with adsorbed heavy metals is separated from the solution as a solid by means of magnetic separation and is sent for processing by known methods with said metals.
EFFECT: increased technical and economic efficiency thereof due to extraction of the sorbent with the adsorbed heavy metals using magnetic means and subsequent joint processing thereof resulting in marketable products with expanded area of application.
