FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst (2) for cleaning exhaust gases with a porous ceramic carrier (4) having a porosity that is formed by pores in at least part of the ceramic carrier (4), and which, in addition, has a catalytically active coating (10) of porous oxide applied to the ceramic carrier (4). The catalytically active porous oxide coating has a layer thickness (d1), while the carrier (4) has a permanent catalytically inactive impregnation (12) containing at least one catalytically inactive inorganic component that does not have catalytic activity with respect to exhaust gas cleaning. Permanent inactive impregnation (12) is present in the pores of the ceramic carrier (4) in the area with reduced porosity under the surface of the ceramic carrier (4), while the carrier (4) is a monolithic component and consists of a catalytically active material, and only the subarea of the monolithic component is impregnated (12). The invention also concerns a method for producing the catalyst.
EFFECT: good mechanical properties and consistently good catalytic activity of the created catalyst.
