FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: application: in the field of electrical engineering for compensation of reactive power in power supply systems. According to the method for three-stage adjustment of reactive power by a capacitor unit with two capacitor banks, wherein each of the capacitor banks is connected to the network by two thyristor switches and a network switch, during activation of each of the capacitor banks, first two phases are activated at the moment when the linear voltage of the two phases crosses zero, and then the third phase is activated at the moment when the phase voltage of the phase crosses zero. Disconnection of each capacitor bank is performed by thyristor switches with natural commutation, and disconnection of the capacitor unit is performed by a power switch. During disconnection of each of the capacitor banks, first one phase is disconnected wherein the current crosses zero earlier, and then the two phases the total current whereof crosses zero are disconnected. The capacity of the second capacitor bank is twice the capacity of the first bank. The first stage is activated by connecting the first capacitor bank to the network, the second stage is activated by connecting the second capacitor bank to the network when the first battery is disconnected, and the third stage is activated by connecting the first capacitor bank to the network when the second capacitor bank is connected to the network.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is increased reliability of power supply systems due to reduction of the number of switching apparatuses.
