FIELD: laser technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laser technology and can be used in the schemes of thermonuclear ignition of laser targets, implying the achievement of a high compression ratio of thermonuclear fuel. According to the method of forming the configurations of laser sources for direct irradiation of spherical targets on installations for laser thermonuclear fusion, the spatial arrangement of focusing lenses of the final optical modules on the interaction chamber is set, thereby determining the spatial configuration of laser sources. In this case, symmetric configurations of laser sources are constructed using the symmetry of rotation of regular polyhedrons. Using the constructed symmetric configuration, the angular position of the laser illumination spots formed by laser sources on the target surface is controlled. Moreover, the centers of the laser illumination spots of a spherical target are shifted into angular coordinates determined by minimizing the quadratic form of the residual, composed of the spherical modes allowed by the symmetry conditions. Next, the set of allowed spherical modes in the distribution of laser intensity on the target surface is determined. As a result, a nontrivial symmetric configuration of laser spots is obtained.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the uniformity in the schemes of direct irradiation of spherical thermonuclear targets.
