SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of thermal friction cutting with a circular saw of rolled pipes made of austenitic chromium-nickel steels and heated to a temperature of 1150-1250°C, and can be used, for example, in pipe rolling production. The method involves the cutting of a heated steel pipe with a disc saw for thermal friction cutting made of low-alloy steel, containing an all-metal body with cutting teeth arranged along the contour, each of which contains a front negative angle γ equal to -20°, an angle between the side surfaces of the tooth β equal to 40°, a positive rear angle α equal to the side angle of the bevel of each tooth of the saw ϕ and equal to 10-15°. At the same time, they provide feeding of the saw of 7.2-15.8 microns/tooth and a feed speed of 0.05-0.1 m/s.

EFFECT: high quality of the surface of the ends of the workpieces after cutting is achieved and the durability of the circular saws is increased when moving from one diameter of the cut workpiece to another.
