ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND MYDRIATIC INTRA-CHAMBER SOLUTIONS FOR INHIBITION OF POSTOPERATIVE INFLAMMATORY EYE CONDITIONS Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61K9/08 A61K31/407 A61K31/138 A61P27/02

Abstract RU 2750296 C2

FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and is intended to inhibit the postoperative inflammatory condition, as well as to reduce the frequency or severity of cystic macular edema after an ophthalmic surgical procedure. A method for inhibiting a postoperative inflammatory condition after an ophthalmic surgical procedure involves identifying a subject who has an increased risk of developing a postoperative inflammatory condition; intra-chamber administration to a subject during an ophthalmic surgical procedure of a solution containing a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and a mydriatic agent that is an agonist of alpha1-adrenergic receptors in an irrigation carrier for intraocular administration, at the same time, NSAIDs and mydriatic agents maintain intraoperative pupil diameter by stimulating mydriasis and inhibiting myosis, with the NSAID being ketorolac and the mydriatic agent being phenylephrine. A sufficient amount of the solution is also administered to absorb the amount of NSAIDs into the eye tissues, which is sufficient to inhibit at least 90% of the initial levels of cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2 activity in the eye tissues for a period of at least eight hours after surgery, resulting in an inhibited postoperative inflammatory condition. In another embodiment, a method is presented to reduce the frequency or severity of cystic macular edema after an ophthalmic surgical procedure.

EFFECT: use of the group of inventions makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of inhibiting the postoperative inflammatory condition, as well as to reduce the frequency or severity of cystic macular edema after an ophthalmic surgical procedure.
