FIELD: military equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to military equipment and can be used in the manufacture of body armor, in particular in armored structures, consisting of several layers and designed to protect against small arms bullets. The method for hardening a steel sheet of armor includes a preliminary deformation effect by shock waves by means of static-impulse treatment twice in different directions, carrying out double-sided carburizing in a solid carburizer at a temperature of 930°C for 7 hours, carrying out two-stage hardening. At the first stage, quenching is carried out at a temperature of 930°C for 30 minutes. At the second stage, quenching is carried out at a temperature of 790°C for 30 minutes with cooling in oil. Distribution is carried out at a temperature of 180°C.
EFFECT: provides a hardened structure, including cemented surface layers and a heterogeneously hardened core throughout the thickness of the steel armor sheet.
