FIELD: leak testing of devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of leak testing of devices and can be used to detect developing defects in the sealing elements (5) and blocking elements (6) of ball valves (1). Essence: the ball valve (1) is moved to the ‘closed’ position. A vacuum device (7) is connected through an open drain line or a spark plug (4). With the help of the vacuum device (7), a predetermined negative pressure is created in the contact zone of the sealing elements (5), which have an annular shape, with the blocking element (6). The presence of developing defects on the sealing elements (5) and the blocking element (6) results in leaks of the transported gas, which are detected by recording an acoustic signal.
EFFECT: increasing the sensitivity of detecting developing defects.
