SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the area of adjustable beds, more specifically, to an articulated bed structure equipped with a compact drive system comprised of a two-stage lifting mechanism in an upper body support section wherein two pairs of rollers spaced apart on inclining arms for dual lever contact with lifting guides are used. The articulated bed is comprised of a support frame with a head section rail and a leg section rail with lateral frame rails. An upper body support frame rotatably connected to a first transverse element in the frame. A lifting unit for the upper body support frame with two inclining arms attached to the first transverse element using joints. A first pair of wheels attached to the inclining arms at the top. A second pair of wheels attached at the end of the arms farthest from the joints. A first drive attached from the head section rail to the cross-rail extending between the inclining arms. Said lifting unit therein has a first movement range ensuring lifting of the upper body support frame from the non-unfolded position wherein the first pair of wheels comes in contact with the longitudinal guides in the upper body support, and a second movement range ensuring continued rotation with lifting the upper body support frame wherein the second pair of wheels comes in contact with the longitudinal guides.

EFFECT: proposed invention ensures manufacture of an articulated bed equipped with a drive system with a compact profile configured to be placed in a lateral support with a profile of lowered thickness.
