FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to methods of manufacturing TiNbTa wire from a biocompatible alloy for the production of spherical powder. A method of producing wire from a titanium-niobium-tantalum alloy for the production of spherical powder includes smelting alloy ingots from initial materials in an electric arc vacuum furnace with a non-consumable tungsten electrode, homogenizing annealing of ingots in a vacuum of 5⋅10-5 mm Hg, intense plastic deformation of ingots with obtaining a wire and recrystallization annealing of the resulting wire. Homogenizing annealing of ingots is carried out at a temperature of 600°C for 12 hours, severe plastic deformation is carried out by rolling on a reversing mill to a billet section of 10×10 mm2, rotary forging in air at a temperature of 600°C and single or multiple drawing to a wire diameter of 1 mm, and the recrystallization annealing of the resulting wire is carried out in vacuum at a temperature of 600°C for 12 hours.
EFFECT: resulting wire is characterized by high ductility and performance characteristics.
