SUBSTANCE: invention relates to safety devices for slowing down and stopping a vehicle. Road guard rails include a guide rail fixed on the road surface, a set of slide bearings made with the possibility of movement along the guide rail, and a set of deformable hollow elements arranged horizontally one after the other and supported with slide bearings. Each of deformable hollow elements has a straight axis of development. Each deformable hollow element of the set of deformable hollow elements has such a ratio of length and cross-section, which leads to irreversible compression deformation of the deformable hollow element, which determines the folding along its axis of development, when deformable hollow element is subject to an axial force, which is at least equal to the critical force. Connecting plate divides two deformable hollow elements arranged sequentially to provide plastic compression deformation in the axis direction. Each deformable hollow element of the set of deformable hollow elements has the first edge fixed on the mounting plate of the first slide bearing of the set of slide bearings or on the first connecting plate of the set of connecting plates and the second edge fixed on the mounting plate of the second slide bearing of the set of slide bearings or on the second connecting plate of the set of connecting plates.
