FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and deals with a method for the differential diagnosis of liver steatosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis in men. The essence of the method is that the ratio of the concentration of 3-hydroxybutyric and 3-methyl-2-oxovaleric acids determined by chromatographic method in a patient's venous blood sample is determined. When the ratio of the concentration of 3-hydroxybutyric acid to the concentration of 3-methyl-2-oxovaleric acid is 19/1 or more, liver steatosis is diagnosed, with a ratio of 13/1 or less, NASH is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method can be used for non-invasive determination of liver steatosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis in male patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
