FIELD: medicine; hepatology.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for differential diagnosis of steatosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis in females. A patient's vein sample is taken, his biochemical indices are analyzed to determine various forms of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Analysis is carried out chromatographically. Analyzed biochemical values are represented by concentration of lactic and oxanilic acid in a blood sample. Ratio of concentrations of said acids to each other is determined. If the ratio of lactic acid to oxanilic acid concentration is 98/1 or less, the patient is diagnosed with steatosis. If ratio is 325/1 and more, the patient is diagnosed with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. If the ratio ranges from 99/1 to 324/1, the patient is not diagnosed accurately and additional diagnostic measures are taken.

EFFECT: method enables higher accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of diagnosing various forms of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in females: steatosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, as well as possibility of diagnosing irrespective of various factors of action due to determination of content of carboxylic acids: lactic and oxanilic, in a blood sample by means of gas chromatography-mass-spectrometry.
