FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to clinical and laboratory diagnostics. Blood serum is examined for vitamin D, low-density lipoprotein, glucose and alanine aminotransferase activity in the patients suffering type 2 diabetes mellitus. Then presence or absence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is calculated by original formula (p). If the p value is less than 0.757, the absence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is stated in the patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and if the value p is 0.757 and higher, the non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is stated in the patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

EFFECT: method increases sensitivity, specificity, accuracy of diagnosing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and can be used in any practical health care institution, does not require expensive equipment and liver biopsy, which in turn makes it possible to apply this method at the stages of screening, diagnostics, examination, dispensary observation and treatment.
