FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering and can be used in the oil production and oil refining industry to determine the content of water and oil in the composition of an oil-water mixture. The accuracy and speed of determining the composition of the water-oil mixture is achieved by implementing a method for determining the composition of the water-oil mixture, including the placement of the water-oil mixture in a capillary made of a material transparent to electromagnetic radiation, with an internal diameter from 10 mcm to 200 mcm, exposure of the water-oil mixture to electromagnetic vibrations in the range from 3 THz to 30 THz at values of the capillary wall thickness from 10 mcm to 100 mcm or from 0.03 THz to 3 THz at values of the capillary wall thickness from 10 mcm to 200 mcm and measurement of the values of absorption of electromagnetic vibrations by the water-oil mixture. The determination of the water and oil content in the composition of the water-oil mixture is carried out by comparing the values of the absorption of electromagnetic vibrations measured at the previous stage with the values of the absorption of reference samples using a device for determining the composition of the water-oil mixture, a computer system and a machine-readable medium with a computer program.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy and speed of determining the composition of the water-oil mixture.
