SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of construction, namely for strengthening and protecting soils in the surface part of embankments to restore or increase their strength. A method for protecting soils from erosion, including impregnating the soil with an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol, followed by mixing the soil impregnated with cryogel using mechanization means. Initially, by dissolving polyvinyl alcohol in water heated to a temperature of 80-95°С, a cryogel is prepared by dissolving polyvinyl alcohol in water in an amount of 0.2-10.0% of the volume of heated water. Then on the surface of the soil to be strengthened, at least in one cycle, cryogel is fed in an amount of 8.0-14.0 l/m2, the soil is impregnated and mixed with the cryogel, while the cycles of introducing the cryogel onto the soil surface, its impregnation and mixing are carried out during the period of the year with a positive temperature in the daytime and a negative temperature at night, when the ambient temperature fluctuates in the range: from +8°С during the day to -10°С at night.

EFFECT: invention increases reliability and simplifying the technology of soil strengthening, as well as reducing material and energy costs.
