FIELD: pulse generation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for generating terahertz radiation pulses. An apparatus for generating terahertz radiation pulses, containing: two lasers, generation frequencies whereof differ by a given amount in the terahertz range, a pumping source, each whereof is intended for pumping the active medium of at least one of said lasers; two optical modulators intended for forming radiation pulses formed by said lasers and synchronous output thereof; a pulse combining unit intended for combining synchronised radiation pulses of said lasers before supplying into a nonlinear optical element, wherein said pulse combining unit is made either in the form of a Glan prism whereto said synchronised radiation pulses of said lasers with orthogonal polarisation planes are supplied so as to ensure coaxiality thereof at the output of the Glan prism, or in the form of a lens whereto said synchronised radiation pulses of said lasers are supplied with a displacement parallel to each other, a nonlinear optical element intended for generating said terahertz radiation pulses.

EFFECT: expanded range of technical means for generating stable powerful terahertz radiation pulses.
