FIELD: dosimetry.

SUBSTANCE: method for gamma radiation dosimetry comprises stages of placing a fibre optic waveguide with a core of pure quartz glass in the gamma radiation area and measuring the changes in the radiation-induced optical losses in the fibre optic waveguide (RIOLW), wherein the dose rate of gamma radiation is calibrated by the RIOLW measured at the wavelength of the probing radiation of 1.55 mcm, wherein the glass of the waveguide core has an oxygen deficiency and comprises no more than 0.01 mass.% of chlorine.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of dosimetry of zones with a high level of gamma radiation.
