FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a modified method of chemical vapor deposition for manufacturing of radiation-resistant optical fibers with a fluorosilicate shell and a core of quartz glass ligated with nitrogen. Initial vapor-gas mixture containing N2, O2 and a pair of SiCl4, is introduced directly into the tube at ratio of oxygen volumes to gaseous silicon tetrachloride in the range 0.05–0.1, and as a carrier gas for supply of SiCl4 gases nitrogen is used. Introduction of nitrogen into the core leads to increase in the refractive index by 0.0015.

EFFECT: simplified manufacturing process.
