FIELD: nuclear physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of experimental nuclear physics and can be used to measure the muon component of air showers (AS) of cosmic rays (CR), as well as in other experiments wherein the muon flux is measured in CRs. The ice muon detector records Cherenkov radiation from muons in the volume of ice, wherein the detector uses ice with spectrum-displacing additives as a Cherenkov radiation radiator.

EFFECT: expansion in the area of application of experimental equipment for the purpose of using the advantages of the cold climate to solve problems in the fundamental research in the field of physics of high energy cosmic rays.
