FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy and can be used for manufacturing parts of railway rolling stock, particularly cast coupling bodies, from E-class alloy steel complying with the requirements of the M-201 specification of the AAR standard. The cast coupling body includes a head for accommodation of the coupling mechanism and a shank for attaching the head to a railway car. The body is made of steel containing the following components, % wt.: carbon from 0.25 to 0.30, silicon from 0.15 to 0.40, manganese from 1.00 to 1.25, sulphur no more than 0.025, phosphorus no more than 0.025, chromium from 0.40 to 0.60, nickel from 0.40 to 0.70, copper no more than 0.30, molybdenum from 0.20 to 0.30, vanadium no more than 0.04, aluminum from 0.02 to 0.06, iron the rest. After the heat treatment including quenching from a temperature in the range of 890 to 940°C, followed by high tempering at a temperature in the range of 620 to 700°C, the body has an impact toughness at a temperature of minus 40°C of no less than 27 J, a yield strength of no less than 700 MPa, an ultimate strength of no less than 840 MPa, a relative elongation of no less than 14%, a relative contraction of no less than 30% and hardness from 241 to 311 HB.
EFFECT: production of a cast coupling body applicable for railway rolling stock.
