FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, namely to a cast coupling case of a railway rolling stock, made of steel and including a shank and a head for placing a coupling mechanism. Steel contains following components, wt.%: carbon from 0.17 to 0.25, manganese from 1.10 to 1.40, silicon from 0.30 to 0.50, chromium of no more than 0.30, nickel of no more than 0.30, copper of no more than 0.30, aluminum from 0.02 to 0.06, sulfur of no more than 0.04, phosphorus of no more than 0.04, vanadium from 0.01 to less than 0.03, iron is the rest. After thermal processing including quenching in water with the following high output, the coupling case contains vanadium carbonitrides evenly distributed in the steel volume with a size of no more than 100 nm.
EFFECT: increase in the stability of mechanical properties of steel and increase in the operational reliability of the cast coupling case are provided.
