FIELD: poultry husbandry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the agricultural industry and can be used in poultry farming, in particular, of broiler chickens. The method for reducing the gram-positive avian gut microbiota involves combined use of 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid 97% at a dosage of 0.13 g/kg body wt. and gamma-octalactone at a dosage of 0.1 ml/kg body wt.
EFFECT: use of the claimed invention makes it possible to reduce the amount of gram-positive microorganisms of the Firmicutes phylum in the caecal segment of the intestine of broiler chickens, providing a positive effect on growth and development thereof.
